Yerevan Haybusak University has been founded in 1990. The first rector and founder of the university was Doctor of Biology, Professor L.V.Harutyunyan whose progressive ideas about modern higher education underlay the activity of Higher Educational Institution. Being an outstanding scientist and pedagogue, L.Harutyunyan could unify the best minds of science and academic pedagogy, and very soon Haybusak occupied leading positions not only in higher education but also became a founder of many new principles of the modern higher school of Armenia. Haybusak received a new state license of the Ministry of Education of RA in 1991, state license of the Ministry of Health in 1993 in the field of medical, economic and technological higher education.

Yerevan Haybusak University is a nationally accredited international multidisciplinary University, with about 4000 students studying annually on a daily basis from different countries. After Armenia had joined the Bologna process our University adopted the three-cycle education system (Bachelor, Master and Postgraduate) and began to uphold European standards.
Levon V. Harutyunyan – Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor, Academician of a number of academies, founder and first rector Haybusak University. L. Harutyunyan authored more than 400 scientific works, published more than 40 monographs, educational-methodical manuals, textbooks and dictionaries. The scope of his scientific interests involved the following scientific fields – Ecology, Botany, Landscape Gardening, Phytotherapy, Decorative Landscaping, Landscape Architecture.
