The library of Yerevan Haybusak University has started its activity since 1991 having only one hundred unit books. By regularly enriching with textbooks, educational-methodical, educational supporting materials, popular scientific literature, journals and fictions, the library has become one of the favorite places for students and teachers. Attached to the library, there is a spacious reading hall which provides availability of WiFi internet. Currently the total number of books is 35.340 among which 15.080 are textbooks, 4200 – project-based fictions, 1400 – educational-methodical materials, 14600 – educational supporting materials, 60 maps, 19 electronic informative CDs which contain 25.000 unit books. There is also an informative printing press. The library cooperates with the National Library of Armenia, City Central Library after Av. Isahakyan and Scientific Medical Library of Armenia based on signed contracts due to which the students of Yerevan Haybusak University can freely use their literature funds.

The book, which consists of 6 volumes, contains detailed information about more than 2800 herbs which are popular worldwide. The current volume contains 164 types of herbs the majority of which are plants which grow in Armenia and which are used in traditional medicine since ancient times. The herbs specified in the book are presented according to the nature of diseases. The diseases belonging to specific groups are briefly described. The peculiarities of phytotherapy of each disease are mentioned in details in respective chapters. The names of each herb are provided in Armenian, Latin and Russian, as well as their families, external features, prevalence (in case of Armenia more details are provided), conservation status, nature of raw materials and their main extracts, chemical composition, main therapeutic significance, information about the pharmacological influence and medical use are mentioned. There are colorful pictures of most important 111 herbs in the book. The book is for physicians, biologists, students of respective educational institutions and a wide range of readers.

The book comprises rich and brief information about the nature of Armenia. The current state of forests, their losses and improvement activities are specifically mentioned. A big section is provided for problems relating to artificial afforestation and landscape gardening. The book is meant not only for the specialists of nature protection but also for a wide range of readers, including school pupils, students, pedagogues, literally – for all.

The book is narrated according to the phylogenetic classification given by world-known botanist Armen Takhtajyan. The 2 volumes involve more than 600 colorful pictures of plants which will be helpful in specifying their type. The book also involves a number of articles published in the republican press in different years. The summary of the book comprises articles from Levon Harutyunyan’s rich scientific popular heritage. The editor of the book is his granddaughter Diana Balasanyan.
